Almost every spring, Apple holds a launch event in March, often a grab bag of new and updated devices, with one or more headliners. This year's spring event is almost here.
BIG updates for iPad, Mac, and MORE surprises coming!
Apple’s product launches either follow an extremely strict schedule, like the iPhone’s annual September event, or follow a looser, it’ll-be-ready-when-it’s-ready sort of timetable. And while the March event can be a bit of a catch-all, it does sometimes coincide with big launches. The March 2021 event (which was actually in April) introduced the new super-slim M1 iMac. In 2022, we got the Mac Studio and Apple Studio Display. And since 2021, we’ve had new iPhone colors (yellow, green, and purple). So what can we expect for March 2024? A lot, we think.
“I would say I’m most excited about the potential of a new HomePod with a display. I love my HomePods for their great sound quality, but a screen on one would take it to the next level! I would be able to see my smart home controls, video calls, watch content, and more right on the HomePod. It would become the central hub for my Apple ecosystem,” Sean Spittle, software engineer and Managing Partner at InspectNTrack, told Lifewire via email.
The headliner this year will almost certainly be the iPad. The current iPad Pro design dates back to 2018, with nothing but spec-bump updates since then, and this year is shaping up to be a big one. There may be a new aluminum Magic Keyboard cover, making the iPad Pro feel even more like a MacBook, and a new Apple Pencil with built-in Find My tracking.
