Over the years, the way phones charge has evolved to include features like wireless and fast charging. The newest iPhones to hit the market will feature Apple’s proprietary wireless charging technology called MagSafe. These chargers can deliver up to 15W of power to the device, though not all iPhone 12 models will feature it.
The iPhone 12 mini only supports a maximum of 12W of output, a 3W difference from the other devices. While the raw numbers look different, charging speed and efficiency can ultimately be affected by other factors as well.
“In real-world charging, there will always be some variation and deviation from maximum power output,” wrote Weston Happ, Product Development Manager at Merchant Maverick, via email.
