Apple could bring sensor-shift image stabilization to the entire iPhone 13 lineup, according to MacRumors, citing a report from Taiwanese publication DigiTimes. Currently, only the massive iPhone 12 Pro Mac has the feature.
HOW GOOD is the iPhone 13 Pro's stabilization? | Are phone gimbals obsolete?!
Sensor-shift stabilization, also called in-body image stabilization (IBIS), moves the camera sensor to compensate for your shaky hands as you take photos. This helps you capture sharper photos, even in very low light. And it could be in every iPhone 13.
"In general, better stabilization in cameras produces sharper images at longer shutter speeds," photographer Nathan Hill told Lifewire via Twitter, "because it helps compensate for small movements while the photo is being taken that would normally cause blur. Usually means improved low-light images on phone cameras."
There are two types of image stabilization. One moves the lens itself, the other moves the sensor. Both types have their advantages. On a camera with interchangeable lenses, the in-lens stabilization can be adjusted to that specific lens.
