While Final Fantasy XIV players around the world are enjoying the Dawntrail expansion and all of its new content, they are also eagerly awaiting the reopening of Data Center Travel, which has been temporarily closed due to server congestion. However, with the release of patch 7.05, many are wondering if Data Center Travel is back open.

If you’re one of the many FFXIV players who’ve been wondering when global Data Center Travel would open up again in the Seven Hells, you’re in luck. As of Patch 7.05, the travel restrictions put in place at Dawntrail’s launch to help with server congestion have been lifted, and you can now travel to any Data Center or World Visit you want. This is especially good news for players on Dynamis, who have been essentially quarantined since the newer Data Center was added.
There’s a small catch, though. According to the announcement on The Lodestone, in-game travel is now allowed everywhere again, but new rules have also been implemented to promote an “even distribution of players” across each World and Data Center.
Based on world classifications, this means that if a world server on a particular datacenter is marked as 'overloaded', the number of players allowed to travel to that datacenter/world will be significantly lower than the number of players on 'preferred worlds', which generally have less server traffic.
