Unless you’ve been away from social platforms lately, you’ve probably come across Reface: an app that uses AI and machine learning to swap your face with that of a celebrity or movie star, then plays a scene with your face on it. As with any app that has access to your photos, the biggest hurdle to using it hinges on how securely you want to share your information with them.
3 ILLEGAL apps that are now BANNED ❌
In this article we will try to answer the question for you: is Reface safe to use?
Before Reface became a widely used face-swapping tool, it was called Doublicat – an app developed by a group of Ukrainian developers led by Dima Shvets, who is now the CEO of RefaceAI. Although the app was originally developed in Kyiv, Ukraine, the company has since relocated its operations to the US and is operated by NeoCortext, Inc, registered in Delaware, United States.
Since its launch, the app has grown in popularity and attracted significant investment from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and creators of the TV show “South Park” – Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Reface is currently registered in the US and follows US and EU data protection laws when handling the transfer and processing of data shared with the app.
