The Samsung Galaxy Watch is waterproof, but what do terms like 5ATM and IP68 mean? Simply put, the Samsung Galaxy Watch has no problem handling anything other than extreme conditions.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch has two separate submersion ratings. The IP68 (Ingress Protection) rating means the watch is water resistant for up to 30 minutes. The 5ATM rating means the watch is submersible to a depth of 50 meters. When you combine the two, the Samsung Galaxy Watch can be submerged in 50 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
While no electronic device is truly waterproof, it’s fair to say that the Galaxy Watch is water resistant. For all intents and purposes, the watch is fine for all but the most extreme activities.
You can wear your Galaxy Watch while doing the dishes, in the shower, or out in the rain. The IP rating doesn’t account for water pressure, though; that’s where the 5ATM rating comes in. The watch is rated to withstand up to five atmospheres of pressure, which is the pressure you feel at a depth of 50 meters.
