If you have an outdated or obsolete iPad, it may not be able to run the latest apps or update existing apps. Technically, an outdated device is one that the manufacturer no longer supports. Here is a list of iPads that are no longer supported or no longer in production but are supported.
Are iPads outdated?
The following iPad models are obsolete. Obsolete in this case means discontinued and not supported by Apple. These devices are no longer manufactured and do not support the latest versions of iPadOS.
Vintage iPads aren’t completely obsolete, but they don’t receive full support from Apple. They may receive minor updates, including bug fixes. Apple’s official definition of “vintage” is that they’ve been out of production for five to seven years. The following iPads fall into this category and may soon lose full support:
