The Grandmaster difficulty setting for Destiny 2’s Excision mission launched on June 18, challenging 12 players to a much more challenging fight against The Witness. That didn’t stop one player from completing the entire activity solo hours after release.
Solo Grandmaster – The Glass Road [Destiny 2 The Last Form]
Shortly after the weekly reset on June 18, Esoterickk posted an 80-minute video to YouTube in which he completed the Grandmaster Excision by himself. Esoterickk is known for solo clearing content in Destiny 2, including the recent two-player Dual Destiny mission, so it was only a matter of time before The Witness learned the true power of a Guardian.
In the video description, Esoterickk noted that this attempt was all about playing it safe. "I probably could have taken a lot more risks to speed it up significantly, but since it was my first clear and I wasn't familiar with most enemy spawns, I played it completely safe here."
For this run, Esoterickk used an invisibility Void Hunter build with Graviton Forfeit Exotic armor. This and the rest of the subclass loadout allowed for near-constant invisibility whenever no damage was being dealt to the boss. The damage phases themselves were ridiculously long, but since the third damage phase is scripted to last until the last stand, the only thing you have to worry about are the occasional attacks from The Witness.
