James's first exposure to the world of consumer technology was as a child in the mid-90s, when he would debug PCs for family and friends and create his first HTML website with support from his parents. His interest in technology continued throughout his teenage years and into university, where he studied for a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering.

After college, James started his personal blog, where he began his foray into technology writing, among other things. This quickly grew into more than just a hobby when he joined MakeUseOf as a Staff Writer in 2016.

James specialises in communicating cybersecurity research and concepts and is an advocate for better privacy protection in the UK. James is a proud Android owner and enjoys writing guides and articles on all things Android.
