Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the currently vacant position of CEO of the company will be filled by two people. Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino will take on dual roles following the retirement of Jim Ryan today.

According to a May 13 press release shared by Sony, the CEO role has been split into functions covering the multimedia company's two main groups; Hulst will remain responsible for the corporate division, which includes PlayStation Studios, Bungie, and PlayStation Productions, while Nishino will lead the platform division, which focuses on technology and products. Both will report to the company's chairman, Hiroki Totoki.

“Over the past decade, SIE has grown tremendously, building on our continued successes in hardware, software and services by sharpening our focus on player engagement,” Totoki explained in the press release, adding that more information about the trio’s plans for SIE will be revealed in the coming months.

Shortly after the decision was made public, Hulst tweeted that it was a "true privilege" to lead Sony into a new era. "I look forward to continuing to collaborate with incredibly talented teams and studios to deliver unforgettable gaming and entertainment experiences," Hulst said.
