'I am the best person to do this job right now,' Democratic presidential candidate tells CNN's Dana Bash; Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz defends past statements on IVF treatment, military service

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris discussed her plan to promote an "opportunity economy" and defended her past policy changes and her record as vice president during her first high-profile news interview since topping the ticket earlier this month.

Vice President Harris sat down with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for a lengthy conversation with CNN veteran Dana Bash, who discussed a number of issues during the closely watched interview, which CNN expanded into an hour-long special, "The First Interview: Harris-Walz." The interview was taped earlier in the day while Harris and Walz were campaigning in Savannah, Georgia.
