Kelly Laffey is a New York City-based writer, editor, and content strategist with over 12 years of editing and communications experience. Passionate about connecting people with stories, she has been writing for Dotdash Meredith since September 2022. Highlights
Kelly enjoys working in content creation and communications and has appeared in numerous print and digital media publications. Kelly honed her editorial experience as Editor-in-Chief at Avenue, a lifestyle magazine covering Manhattan society, real estate, and luxury trends. There, she interviewed celebrities, CEOs, chairmen and board members of iconic New York institutions. She also developed the content strategy and editorial objectives for the relaunch of the Avenue website. Kelly is passionate about health, fitness, sports and lifestyle topics. Previously, Kelly was deputy editor at Dan's Papers , a weekly publication based in the Hamptons. She took on a number of project management roles, including overseeing all content creation for the recently launched Montauk section, as well as all branded content for the company's food and wine events. After retiring from her full-time roles in the After leaving print media, Kelly pursued a career in corporate communications, where she helps shape and maintain a company’s voice. She also currently consults on a number of content and communications projects. She delivers strategic communications plans, brand strategy recommendations, and messaging campaigns that support a company's goals. Kelly's writing has earned her numerous awards. In 2015, she received the Fair Media Council Folio Award for her piece on fashion icon Donna Karan and the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy program by the designer. In addition, Kelly was named Sports Writer of the Year by the New York Press Association in 2012.
