Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch, even though the game is starting to show its age after 18 years.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Nintendo Switch Review and Achievements!
It’s hard to think of a platform that hasn’t gotten a port of Knights of the Old Republic at this point – it’s been on smartphones for eight years now. So inevitably, it was the Switch’s turn, and unsurprisingly, it’s pretty much the same game as ever.
I don’t see that as a bad thing, mind you. KOTOR is one of the most beloved (possibly the most beloved) Star Wars video games of all time, and for good reason. Just being able to replay it on Switch – and have it available for new players to discover – is really all I wanted from it in the first place.
Ignoring the shape of the physical controller and the button prompts that appear on-screen, there’s really nothing new in this Switch port. Compared to the original 2003 release, the visuals look sharper and the aspect ratio is wider during gameplay, but that’s about it. Again, not really a bad thing. Especially since we know a proper remake is planned for sometime in the future.
