Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has reportedly said that the team will step back from Baldur's Gate 3 after a final major update scheduled for September of this year. He only mentioned "really critical bug fixes," but at this point the game is so polished that it's doubtful any more will be needed.

This news doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Vincke has echoed this sentiment before, confirming that there will be no major expansions for Baldur’s Gate 3 and that a future Baldur’s Gate 4 won’t be developed by Larian. Most enticing, however, is the prospect of official modding tools, which have also recently been released for both The Witcher 3 and Starfield.
