The new iOS 15.0. 2 update doesn’t seem to work well with CarPlay, and many users are having trouble getting their iPhones to connect at all.
iOS 15 Hands-On: 4 New Features for Apple CarPlay!
CarPlay’s recent iOS 15 issues, which caused the app to crash when playing music, were said to be fixed in iOS 15.0.2. Unfortunately, it appears that trying to fix one problem has created a much larger issue, as some users are now unable to connect to their vehicles at all. More specifically, the physical connection works and the phone charges, but CarPlay itself will not launch and will not display in the car’s head unit.
The usual tricks like restarting the phone, re-pairing the phone to the head unit, or resetting CarPlay don’t help either. Except sometimes, as there are stories of people getting CarPlay working again after multiple restarts.
However, many users report that multiple reboots, swapping cables, etc. have not yielded any results. Whatever the cause, it seems that a new update is the only sure way to fix it.
