Microsoft regularly releases major updates for its Windows operating systems.
New Microsoft Store app in Windows 11 (August 2024 update)
In the past, these updates were released via extensive service packs, but nowadays they are more often semi-regular and important updates via Windows Update.
In fact, the service pack, as we know it from previous versions of Windows, is basically a dead idea since Windows 8. Just like updates on your smartphone, Microsoft is constantly adding important features via automatic patching.
Starting in August 2024, the last major update for Windows 11 will be Windows 11 version 23H2, also known as the Windows 11 2023 Update. Updates will be rolled out automatically via Windows Update.
