LCS Opens Twitch Subscriptions, 100T Akali Emote Changed | Reddit Recap
On August 15, Riot made an announcement on the LCS X account about the new LCS Twitch subscriptions. This month-long test coincides with the LCS Summer Split playoffs to improve the League of Legends esports experience.
The Twitch subscriptions offer rewards and experiences during and outside of the broadcast. During the broadcast, subscribers can watch the LCS ad-free, skipping the standard Twitch ads that would be displayed between games. Fans will also receive custom LCS badges and chat emotes.
According to the announcement, the LCS is looking to create more interaction between the Twitch chat and the broadcast. Casters have been checking the chat frequently during the broadcast to gauge what fans are saying. With the new Twitch subs, those who are subbed will get higher priority in fan polls and a better chance of being recognized on the radio. Subscribing to the Twitch account will also unlock the “Brain Off” League emote that can be redeemed in-game.
