On July 31, Bungie released an official statement announcing that the developer was eliminating 220 roles effective immediately. In the hours since, former Bungie employees have voiced their concerns on X, formerly Twitter, and other social media.
How Bungie's layoff talks went
The announcement was made on Bungie's website and later shared on Bungie's official X profile, where it was met with widespread negative feedback from disappointed fans.
Amid the backlash, Destiny 2 Global Community Lead dmg04 posted on X: "Inexcusable. Industry-leading talent is being lost again. The responsibility falls on the shoulders of the employees who have pushed the needle time and time again to deliver for our community. Please stay focused on those who have lost their jobs and livelihoods. Offer assistance where you can."
While the Global Community Lead is not impacted by the layoffs, he says he will spend time helping those who are affected.
