The Public folder is a folder in the Windows operating system that you can use to share files with other people who use the same computer or are connected to the computer over the same network. You can grant or restrict access to your Public folder for any device on a shared network.
What You Need to Know About Windows' 'Public' Folders
The Windows Public folder is located in the Users folder on the root of the hard drive where Windows is installed. This is usually C:/Users/Public, but it may be a different letter depending on the drive where the Windows files are stored.
Any local user on the computer can access the Public folder at any time. By configuring specific network access, you can control whether network users can access the folder.
By default, the Public folder contains no files until they are added manually or automatically by a user via a software installation. However, there are default subfolders in the Users Public folder that make it easier to organize files that may be placed there later:
