The market for 17-inch laptops may not be huge, but the LG Gram 17 certainly makes a compelling argument in its favor. Traditionally, the two biggest drawbacks of 17-inch laptops have been their physical footprint and weight, both of which make these large laptops less portable. The LG Gram solves both of these problems with its 2.95-pound body and thin bezels, packing a 17-inch display into a 15-inch body.

LG further backs this laptop with a better-than-average list of specs, including an 8th-gen i7-8565 processor, 512GB SSD, and 16GB of RAM. This laptop, unsurprisingly, doesn't feature a discrete graphics card in its slim 0.7-inch frame, so don't plan on doing any gaming or similarly graphics-intensive work, but it should be able to handle just about any task otherwise thrown at it.

The first thing you’ll notice when you take the LG Gram 17 out of the box is how light it is. At under 3 pounds, it’s easy to lift, hold, and carry in one hand. For reference, a current-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro weighs just over 4 pounds, so it’s a strange feeling to be holding a larger laptop that weighs less. No real miracles have been accomplished here: the reduced weight comes at the expense of a more fragile-feeling construction that lacks the sturdiness of heavier laptops.
