League of Legends Patch 14.15, releasing later this week, is only getting bigger, as developers Riot Games have revealed that 10 champions will be receiving balance changes in Arena, along with the addition of new Augments and Prismatic items.
NEW PATCH 14.16 CHANGES! – League of Legends
Riot game designer Mike "RogueFool" Breese detailed the additional LoL Arena balance patch in a Weekend X (Twitter) post on July 27, which features buffs to a number of ability power champs including Corki, Xin Zhao, Jarvan IV, Leona, and Alistar. Malzahar's AD build is also getting a boost, while Volibear, Morgana, Mordekaiser, and Singed got the short end of the stick and are receiving nerfs.
RogueFool noted that the balance patch was light, as the team was primarily focused on the new content coming with 14.15. The designer also noted that buffs to the above champs were specifically aimed at their alternate builds, and won't necessarily apply to the character as a whole. Items Trinity Force and Luden's Companion will also receive a minor buff, with exact values for these buffs expected between now and the patch's release date on Tuesday.
It’s no surprise that Volibear and Singed are among the targets for nerfs, with the two significantly ahead in pick and win rate according to stats site METAsrc. Both have mediocre win rates but almost always score top-two finishes, with Mordekaiser trailing a few points behind. On the other hand, the champions selected for buffs aren’t necessarily underperforming, they just steer players toward one build alone, with AP mostly sidelined.
