I recently purchased a second wireless router for a few reasons, but one of them was to control how my kids connected to the internet. First, I wanted to limit how much bandwidth they could use in a certain period of time. Then, they would disconnect from the internet and have to ask me if they wanted to reconnect.

I have it set up so that normal browsing and streaming would work fine, but if they were to start downloading movies en masse or something crazy I would quickly notice because the bandwidth limit would be exceeded very quickly. Luckily my Netgear router has a built in feature to throttle traffic and limit bandwidth usage.

To begin, log into your router using a web browser. The Netgear Smart Wizard web interface should appear:
