The default password for the Linksys EA2700 is admin (all lowercase). In addition to requiring a password, this router uses the default username admin. The default IP address used to access the router is 192.168. 1.1; this is a standard address common to Linksys routers.

Some routers come in two or more hardware or firmware versions, each with different default login information. The EA2700, however, only comes in one version and therefore uses only one set of credentials.

You can find the hardware version under or to the side of the model number, marked with a "v" to indicate the version. If you don't see a version number on your router, you can assume it's version 1.

While a default password is useful when you first log into a router, you can and should change it as soon as possible. However, changing a password to something only you know means that only you can remember and forget it, which is easy when it’s as secure as it should be.
