The new Linux-powered PinePhone Pro offers a phone that is separate from a company's ecosystem. The makers of the PinePhone phone claim that you can even choose different operating systems.
"Because Linux is an open-source operating system with a lot of free software, there will be no annoying ads in apps," Linux developer Niko Sagiadinos told Lifewire in an email interview. "You have full control over your phone and applications, because you can choose which mobile user interface you want to use."
Pine64 is preparing to ship the PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition for $399. The PinePhone Pro can run several versions of ARM-based Linux.
