This tool is probably the most important to have. Almost all computer components are attached to the computer with some kind of screw. It is important that the screwdriver does not have a magnetic tip. A magnetized object in the computer case could damage some circuits or drives. It is unlikely, but it is better not to take the chance.
If you plan on working on a notebook, they typically use a smaller type of screw. For this, you’ll want a Philips jeweler’s screwdriver or a 3mm model. This much smaller version will fit the small screws. A few companies use a fastener called a Torx that is a pointed star, but these are typically not meant to be removed by the user.
