Apple is expanding its Live Text feature to run on Intel-based Macs running Monterey beta 4.
How to Get Live Text on Intel Macs – macOS Monterey
Live Text is Apple’s image scanning and text identification technology that digitizes the text in a photo and makes it interactive. For example, users can call or save a phone number they see in a photo, copy and paste text, or even edit personal information.
The feature, which is already available in iOS 15, was originally thought to be limited to M1 Mac computers and newer versions of MacBook Airs and Pros. However, in the most recent release notes for Monterey beta 4, Apple said, “Live Text now works on all Mac computers that support macOS Monterey.”
Users on social media have been able to confirm that it is possible to use Live Text on older Intel models, such as a 2008 Mac Pro.
