Arena's big return to League of Legends has gone down "really, really well" in Riot Games' books, but it still won't be enough to keep it around permanently, especially since other limited-time modes are enjoying similar success.
So I tried League of Legends: Swarm..
League Arena has had a long run following the second's launch, with Riot testing loads of changes, balance tweaks, and new maps for the two-vs-two-vs-two-vs-two mode. The response has been overwhelming, with many calling for the gladiator mode to now live on permanently alongside the long-standing Summoner's Rift and Howling Abyss playlists—but that's unlikely, says Riot.
“Arena WILL be disabled at the end of Split Two,” League’s modes lead Eduardo Cortejoso confirmed today, in a surprising move for some enthusiasts who had expected otherwise. “Arena will not be permanently enabled.”
That's not to say Arena is falling short on any internal criteria, the Riot mode developer explained, but the League team simply needs to stick to their principles and shelve the limited-time mode as originally planned.
