Being auto-filled into a position you’re not comfortable with in a ranked game of League of Legends is always frustrating. An equally frustrating situation is having to play next to someone who is unfamiliar with the role they’ve been auto-filled into.

In a thread on the official League subreddit posted earlier today, players discussed the effects of autofilling a lobby and whether it's really a death knell for a team if they have more autofill players than their opponents.
“I don’t really care if I win or lose, but the quality of the game is just mega one-sided depending on how well the autofills try not to lose their lanes/roles,” said the original poster of the Reddit thread, a user named Adventurous-Ideal554. “I just don’t get how one team can have three fills while the other has zero and the game becomes matchmade.”
While an auto-filled player is often out of their element in a ranked game, especially considering they were never prepared to play the role the game gave them in the first place, more often than not they’ll end up underperforming rather than stunningly well. Unless you’re a seasoned player who can confidently play all five roles, being auto-filled is a serious hindrance to your team’s chances. If you have more than one player in a role they’re not ready to handle, they’re likely to lose.
