League of Legends players struggle to play three full splits in one year. Many claim to have given up on ranked mode due to lack of time or having to play it over and over again after a season ends.
What happened to the all-female League of Legends team?
League players today expressed that they’re feeling less inclined to return to ranked after each split in a June 2 post on the game’s subreddit, with the constant need to grind and recalibrate being a major issue. Some were happy to commit to a reset once or twice a year, but now with three splits a year, it’s becoming too much of a hassle.
The biggest problem has been that, because of how long it takes for League’s MMR adjustment to take effect, the first half of each of the three splits is typically spent grinding to get to what fans see as their “actual ranks.” By the time they can enjoy the season, it’s over — and the grinding starts all over again. “I’m less likely to grind ranked every split because I have to play a lot of games to get to the right MMR,” one fan wrote.
Another player said they could live with the new annual three-split League calendar, but wished it didn’t take so long to calibrate. “Early season matches are by far the worst time to play ranked, and having those three times a year was killing my motivation.” Early season MMR is a common point of discussion at Riot Games, and the developers have taken steps to address the concerns, but it’s clear some players are feeling the pain a little more with the extra reset.
