EXCLUSIVE: The London Screen Academy, founded by luminaries Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, David Heyman, Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Last King of Scotland producer Lisa Bryer, is set to open a new campus in the Camden Film Quarter, the film and TV-focused district being developed by Yoo Capital in central London, Deadline can reveal.

LSA is a free sixth form academy that provides free education to young people who want to pursue a career in film and television. Its original location is in Islington, London. It opened in 2018 to much fanfare, not least because the growing production sector was being stretched by the number of series and films being made in the UK. With that facility now oversubscribed, LSA will be adding a new facility in the Camden Film Quarter.

Property firm Yoo Capital has provided the LSA with the space for the new university, which is aimed at students aged 16 to 19. Privately held Yoo Capital’s ambition for the Camden Film Quarter, as first revealed and further documented by Deadline, is to create a new London district dedicated to the creative industries, with studios and performance spaces, as well as affordable housing, industry infrastructure and skills support.

Plans have already been unveiled for an NFTS campus that will cater for university-aged students. The LSA will cater for academics in the teaching age group directly below it, meaning there will be facilities catering for different age groups.
