Sports fans rejoice! The Athletic is finally coming to Apple News+.
Apple News+ Hands-on | Worth $10?!
Apple on Tuesday announced the addition of The Athletic, the sports magazine that is now available to all Apple News+ subscribers. “The Athletic offers best-in-class team coverage as well as coverage of the biggest and most compelling stories in daily sports, across every major league,” Apple wrote in the announcement.
According to Apple, The Athletic has over 450 full-time writers, editors and producers, which means you can expect full coverage of all the local, national professional and college sports your heart desires. This includes coverage of players, teams and sports in general for "the English Premier League, NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLS, PGA, National Women's Soccer League, NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, NCAA men's college basketball, NCAA women's college basketball, LaLiga, UEFA Champions League and more."
Apple also dropped a line that said Wirecutter would be coming to Apple News early next year. Wirecutter is a product recommendation service from The New York Times Company. Since The Athletic is also produced by The New York Times Company, this raises questions about whether The New York Times will return to Apple News in the future. Lifewire reached out to ask, but the press representative declined to provide additional details.
