Magic: Legends has potential as a solid free-to-play action RPG, but it ultimately feels like a mobile game that's primarily asking for money.

I went into Legends’ open beta cold, knowing it existed. I half expected a more traditional MMORPG, in the vein of World of Warcraft, but instead I found myself bashing fungus monsters with an axe, in the best Diablo/Path of Exile tradition.
It fits surprisingly well into the Magic: The Gathering universe, where you can summon creatures and cast spells to defeat some of Magic's signature monsters.
It's an open beta so I'm trying to be charitable, but Legends is making it difficult. The graphics and framerate could use some work, but more importantly, it has a lot of money pits built into its systems.
