Ubisoft's contribution to the increasingly crowded shooter market XDefiant got off to a strong start this week, and as a result of this influx of players, executive producer Mark Rubin has shared a "PSA" to help those who may be struggling with one of the game's distinguishing features: its higher time-to-kill.

XDefiant's character roster is varied in playstyle, but across the board they're sturdier than many of their brethren in rival titles like Call of Duty, which can make the gameplay a little harder to stomach for those accustomed to the game's contemporaries. Thankfully, Rubin was on hand today to help players out with some sage advice on X (formerly Twitter): Aim for the head.
It seems obvious, and Rubin himself acknowledges it, but he also notes that “[getting] those headshots” is key to the game’s core philosophy. According to Rubin, “it takes practice, but that’s what this game is about. It wants you to get better.”
It's also a reminder for those annoyed by XDefiant's slower TTK—a mechanic that has already caused frustration among fans of the game. These complaints about enemy players being "bullet sponges" may well have been the reason for Rubin's response in the first place—you'd think "target the weak spots" would go without saying, but apparently the notion hasn't yet sunk in for players.
