Matthew Rhys will star opposite Claire Danes in the upcoming Netflix miniseries “The Beast in Me,” Variety has confirmed with sources.

The show was originally picked up as a series by the streamer in March, starring Danes.
The official logline for the series reads: "Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has been withdrawn from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door to hers is purchased by Nile Sheldon (Rhys), a famous and formidable real estate magnate who was once the prime suspect in his wife's disappearance. Simultaneously horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth—hunting his demons while running from her own—in a cat-and-mouse game that could turn deadly."
On television, Rhys is best known for his starring role in the critically acclaimed FX series The Americans. Rhys received three consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for The Americans, winning the award in 2018. The role also earned him two Golden Globe nominations. More recently, he starred in the HBO series Perry Mason in the title role. His film credits include Burnt, The Post, Cocaine Bear, and The Report.
