A new update from Meta for the Quest 3's landscape view adds an additional (relaxing) way to experience VR.
Huge Quest 3 Update! Landscape Mode & Higher Refresh Rate
The announcement came via the Meta developer forums, where the weekly release notes detailed a number of changes coming to Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 2 the week of April 8. One of the biggest changes (and the one everyone seems to be most excited about) is the ability to continue using Meta Quest 3 while lying down.
According to the blog post, this will be an experimental feature that you can enable in Settings. Once enabled, you'll be able to hold the menu button on your controls to reorient the view when you're lying down. Meta says this feature is for "casual experiences, including media playback and stationary immersive gaming."
In addition to this new feature, the Quest 3 also gets external microphone support, allowing you to use a USB microphone with your headset, and pass-through improvements that include better resolution and image quality. The settings for external microphone support are in the Experimental menu in Settings. And the pass-through improvements should be automatic. The great thing about the pass-through updates is that you'll be able to see the world around you more clearly and in more detail.
