We've known for a while that Meta was preparing for an official Twitter competitor (as Project P92), and now it's here, ready to take on Elon Musk's troubled social media platform.
Meta launches Twitter 'rival' Threads – BBC News
Meet Threads, a “text-based conversation app” that feels an awful lot like Twitter. Meta says the platform allows people to “discuss deep topics” and connect with favorite creators or build a loyal following by sharing hot takes. You know the drill. It’s Twitter, but hopefully with a marked decrease in the “debate me bro” blue-check energy.
There are a few unique differences from Twitter. First, Threads is directly linked to Instagram, so you keep the same username, followers and all that, although you can start from scratch if you want.
Needless to say, unlike modern Twitter, Threads doesn’t have a limit on the number of posts you can read per day. Finally, Threads seems more focused on privacy, allowing users to make micro-adjustments to who can read and interact with posts.
