Damn it, Meta, why are you doing this?
Best Quest 3 Settings to Enable on DAY 1!
The company just rolled out a new v60 update that brings new Home environments, better Space and Boundary features, and improved performance for mixed reality apps. But it’s also removing one of the best immersive features around: the ability to see your phone notifications in the headset.
The ability to receive notifications in your Quest session was added in 2021, and made it a lot more fun than having to tear off your headset to check your phone. Unfortunately, the release notes state: "The phone notification feature, which allows you to receive notifications from your mobile phone on your headset, is being discontinued."
There are some good things coming, though, including more fun Home environments. This is typically the virtual space you start in when completing the Quest. The new locations are called Blue Hill Gold Mine, Storybook, and Lakeside Peak. New options can help keep things feeling fresh as you continue to visit VR on your Quest. On the other hand, if passthrough is an option, or you have that set as your default space, you can keep that.
