As web browsers increasingly become the first (and for some, perhaps the only) app most of us use, Microsoft is taking steps to protect the app from previously undiscovered vulnerabilities and make browsing the web safer for all users.

The recently released Build 98.0. 1108.23 of the Edge browser on the Beta Channel introduces new security features designed to protect users from dangerous vulnerabilities, also known as zero-day threats.
“This feature is a huge step forward as it helps us mitigate unforeseen active zero days,” Microsoft said in the release notes.
Justin Fier, Director of Cyber Intelligence & Analytics at cyber defense firm Darktrace, was eager to explain the importance of browser protection. He told Lifewire in an email that the web browser has become an essential part of our computing experience. Thanks to Google’s Chrome OS, for example, some of us have even moved to browser-only environments.
