Microsoft Office Online can serve as a free alternative to MS Office, as it allows you to edit and share files created in word processor, spreadsheet and presentation programs. It also gives you access to Outlook and OneNote.

Everything you do with the online version of MS Office is done through a web browser and is stored online, so you can access the files from anywhere.
When you visit Office.com and sign in with your Microsoft account, there is a menu, like the one you see above, that gives you access to all the apps that are offered to you. This is how you open Excel online, or Word, or Outlook, etc.
When you select an app, you’ll be taken directly to it, where you can create and edit files already in your account, and upload new files (there’s 1TB of space available). For example, Excel Online has an Upload button that lets you select an XLS, XLSX, XLB, CSV, or other supported file from your computer.
