After some hiccups last year, Microsoft finally acquired Activision Blizzard. This brought numerous benefits, including an increase in the company’s annual revenues of over 20 percent. However, Xbox console sales have not increased in two years. This was all part of the latest financial report.
Activision Blizzard Increases Xbox Revenue Despite Falling Console Sales #shorts
Microsoft released its financial reports for the quarter ended March 3, revealing revenue of $61.9 billion, up 17 percent from the same period last year with net income of $21.9 billion. This means the company has now experienced 20 percent year-over-year growth thanks to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
This is the second year that Microsoft has included Activision Blizzard in its earnings results. The company became the third most successful division under the brand, which was a smart decision to acquire the gaming giant. Xbox services and content grew 62 percent year over year.
Even with all this growth in gaming content and services, consoles aren’t selling. Hardware sales are down 31 percent. The company has tried to make up for this by cutting prices or releasing more games, but it’s not working.
