Microsoft unveils new laptop adaptive kit for people with disabilities
The Surface Adaptive Kit is essentially a set of adhesive accessories for Microsoft’s latest tablets. It includes braille-inspired tactile stickers called bump labels, keycap labels, adhesive wristbands, and colored port and connector labels.
They are sold as an accessibility add-on, and that is exactly right. They make devices more accessible for everyone, and they are so good that they should be available for all devices.
"I think this is one instance where Microsoft is beating Apple to the punch. Apple does have some accessibility features on their products that make it easier for people with disabilities to use their products, but only for their iPhones," Daivat Dholakia, vice president of operations at medical device platform developer Essenvia, told Lifewire via email.
