Microsoft seems to have missed the memo, as a recent update was causing some people problems, including app crashes. Microsoft’s solution? It asked affected people to uninstall the update, and then invalidated the problematic update by providing a fix. As if installing an update wasn’t annoying enough, people now had to go out of their way to uninstall the update. Shouldn’t Microsoft test its software better before pushing it out to people?

"Microsoft does a good job with updates and quality, but it's staffed by humans and humans sometimes make mistakes with an update," Eran Livne, Director of Product Management Endpoint Remediation at Qualys, told Lifewire via email. "They do a good job of finding and fixing issues before release, but it's not perfect."

The update, KB5012643, released on April 25, 2022, was an optional cumulative update for Windows 11 21H2 that introduced many minor changes. However, for some users, the update crashed apps that used certain components of the .NET 3.5 framework, a core part of many Windows apps.
