On the eve of the world premiere of “Mother Mara”, her second feature film as a director, multi-talented Mirjana Karanović, the most famous star of the Balkan region, visited the Variety Lounge presented by the Sarajevo Film Festival and BH Telecom.

As in her first feature, "The Good Wife," Karanović stars and co-writes "Mother Mara." She talks about how her roles as director, actor, and wife sometimes conflicted in her second feature, while her first was easy.

Karanović notes that “Mother Mara,” about a grieving woman who rediscovers her life force through a relationship with a friend of her deceased son, shows a successful woman who defies convention and does something that might be considered inappropriate for her age.

Although she defines herself primarily as an actress, she says, "Directing and making films gives me so much joy. It's so exciting. So I always say that theater is a marriage for me. And films are adventures."
