Do you like dark mode on your Mac, but not in every app? The free and open source app Gray lets you disable the setting for certain apps, allowing you to have dark in some apps and light in others.
How does automatic light/dark mode work on a Mac?
Dark mode is quite polarizing: people seem to either love it or hate it. There is room for nuance, though. Maybe you like taking notes with dark mode, but prefer to read long texts on a bright background. Or maybe you just hate the way some apps handle dark mode. The cool thing about Gray is that you can choose which apps use which theme, even if the apps in question don’t otherwise give you that choice.
You can download Gray from Github . To start, make sure that dark mode is enabled. To do this, open System Settings, go to Display and make sure that the Dark option is selected. Now open Gray. Click on any application and you can set it to forced light mode.
Note that your application will need to be restarted for the setting to apply. Gray does this automatically, so make sure there is no unsaved data in windows before configuring everything. Any application you click on will be restarted and opened in light mode.
