Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware and director of Elden Ring, said he is interested in making a more traditional JRPG now that production on Elden Ring has wrapped with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree.

Miyazaki discussed a few potential interests for future FromSoftware projects in an interview with Rolling Stone on June 20, including the JRPG, which Rolling Stone says "a part of him wants to make someday." As of this writing, FromSoftware has not released any official word on what the studio will do next now that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is out, but this JRPG is one possible path.
Miyazaki told Rolling Stone that he could expect to see more games directed by other members of FromSoftware in the future, but it seems like he'd like to helm this JRPG himself.
FromSoftware released a turn-based JRPG called Enchanted Arms in 2006, and the game never got a sequel. But Miyazaki seems more interested in covering an original IP when this game comes out. He said, "I think a lot of these games are so entwined with the directors who almost invented that style of games. I don't think there's any scenario where I would make a King's Field myself. The same can be said for Otogi and Enchanted Arms."
