One of the biggest names in the streaming industry, MoistCr1TiKaL, is reportedly going on an "indefinite hiatus" and leaving his podcasts. The announcement was made today, July 31, on The Boys Patreon, though Cr1TiKaL himself has yet to make an official comment.
penguinz0 is going on indefinite hiatus
The Patreon post titled “Goodbye Charlie” outlined that the popular creator will be leaving The Official Podcast and Red Thread (thanks Dexerto). This decision was reportedly influenced by Charlie’s (Cr1TiKaL’s) desire to “reduce his time on the internet.” The Official Podcast and Red Thread will remain operational and will not be deleted after Charlie leaves, the Patreon post concludes. Charlie has yet to speak out on the matter, though some believe the move was prompted by his recent debate with co-creator Sneako.
The debate was filled with political discussions, with the issue of gender reassignment surgery coming up. Sneako compared the act of gender reassignment to genital mutilation, which Charlie assumed, as it was later explained, was hyperbolic. The streamer supported the idea that minors should have the means to change their gender if both they and their parents gave consent, which, amid Sneako's descriptions, did not sit well with a certain online audience. Charlie later attempted to clarify his arguments, stating that he was against gender reassignment surgery for minors, and reiterated that he thought Sneako was speaking in an exaggerated manner.
While it’s not entirely clear why the streamer decided to take a break, nor whether this break will also include his YouTube and Twitch channels in addition to podcasting, many have already assumed that the Sneako situation played a role. But we’ll have to wait for an official statement from Charlie himself, which is likely not far off given his frequent uploading schedule.
