I started Monster Harvest on Switch wanting to really like the game, and I did for a while, but soon the little flaws started to pile up.
Monster Harvest is a disappointment (review 2023)
Combining elements of farming games with bits of monster fighting games seemed like a perfect shot at my interests, especially since in Monster Harvest the crops you grow become the monsters you fight.
It was just that I was constantly battling all sorts of little problems, with each new problem piling up and more and more coming in. At some point I realized that I wasn't enjoying it anymore.
This isn’t to say that I hated my time with Monster Harvest or that it’s inherently a bad game. I think quite the opposite. It’s not a bad game, but it’s not a great game either, which it could have been with a bit more polish (and less bugs). To come this close and still be disappointed is almost more disappointing.
