Motorola Edge+ Review: Motorola's New Flagship!
Motorola has been best known for its budget phones in recent years, with the annual Moto G line consistently delivering excellent value and the company has branched out with a series of niche Motorola One mid-range variants. We haven’t seen Moto do much on the flagship front since its Moto Z line barely escaped with snap-on “Moto Mod” accessories, but 2020’s Motorola Edge+ marks a genuine return to top-tier smartphones.
The Motorola Edge+, released last spring, goes for top-tier tech in most areas, including full 5G support, and has a striking curved design with steep “waterfall” edges. It’s a design that opts for form over function, but those over-sharp edges do tarnish the experience somewhat, and the $1,000 price tag is a bit tough to swallow given the excellent competition in the $700-800 range.
As the name suggests, you can’t miss the Edge+’s unique design element: it’s the curved “waterfall” edges on the right and left sides of the display, which curve much more sharply than your average curved Android display. The waterfall trend started popping up in 2019 with phones from Huawei and Oppo, which aren’t normally found in the US, but Motorola took it and brought it here with the Edge+.
