Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa | Official trailer | Netflix
Two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Lucy Walker shares her name with a 19th-century mountain climber: the first woman to climb the Matterhorn in 1871 and the Eiger in 1864 (all in a long dress, the traditional attire for women in the Victorian era).
In her new documentary, Walker tells the story of a modern-day climber, Lhakpa Sherpa, a native of Nepal who has written her name in the mountaineering record books: Lhakpa has climbed Mount Everest an astonishing 10 times, more than any other woman.
After a theatrical release that would have made it eligible for an Oscar, Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa hits Netflix today.
