In an exciting twist, MOUSE: PI For Hire isn’t just your average FPS. Developers at Fumi Games have incorporated elements of Metroidvania into the mix, giving players a mix of familiar shooters with new, exploratory mechanics.

During an interview at Gamescon 2024, Lead Producer Maciej Krzemien discussed the team's desire to make the game feel both "familiar and fresh." That meant incorporating classic FPS elements like a diverse arsenal of weapons and power-ups, but also introducing features that encourage exploration and backtracking, which are hallmarks of the Metroidvania genre.
